About Fetch The Swell – Inspiration Comes In Waves
Welcome to Fetch The Swell, a family-owned surf-inspired lifestyle brand creating comfortable apparel, handcrafted coastal goods, and unique products inspired by beach life, creativity, family, and the idea that inspiration comes in waves.
Our story began with one extraordinary young man who lives with autism. His determination, creativity, kindness, and unique way of seeing the world inspire everyone he meets. Like the ocean, life brings both calm waters and powerful waves. As a family, we’ve learned that every challenge creates an opportunity to grow stronger, appreciate the simple moments, and inspire others to keep moving forward.
That journey became Fetch The Swell.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is simple—to create comfortable, surf-inspired clothing, coastal lifestyle apparel, and handcrafted products that bring positivity, relaxation, and purpose into everyday life. Every design reflects the laid-back spirit of beach living while sharing a story of resilience, family, hope, and encouragement.
We believe that inspiration comes in waves. Some waves test us. Others lift us higher. Every one of them shapes who we become.
WHAT WE CREATE
MEET THE INSPIRATION BEHIND FETCH THE SWELL

CHILDREN’S BOOK AUTHOR
Grant Harrison pens children’s books to inspire others with autism
Grant Harrison became a best-selling author after writing a children’s book inspired by his own experiences as a child growing up with Asperger’s Syndrome, a form of autism spectrum disorder.
“I was diagnosed at a very young age, and it’s impacted a good part of my life,” Harrison said. “I wrote Will You Be My Friend? Based On A True Story Through The Eyes And Ears of Autism because I wanted to bring awareness to families who have or know someone with autism, and help them understand that it’s okay to be different and to go after those dreams you put in front of you.”
The book reached No. 1 in multiple categories, including Best New Book, on Amazon and inspired Harrison to keep writing. His latest book, Dad, Please Don’t Go! Based On A True Story Through The Eyes And Ears Of Autism, was released in July and he was featured on Yahoo’s “In The Know Changemakers” that same month.
Harrison said he hopes his books will inspire others and spread hope to those facing similar challenges.
“I think the biggest takeaway I would want to give people who read my books is to try not to let roadblocks stop you from trying new and exciting things, or from letting you be you,” he said. “People are absolutely ready to support you, wherever they may be or whoever they may be, so don’t be afraid to let your own wonders shine!”
When he’s not busy writing best-selling books, Harrison enjoys making music with the Oakland University Symphonic Band as a percussionist.
“Music has always been a big part of my life,” he said. “Playing music allows me to express myself without worrying about standing out because of my fidgeting habits, plus music has allowed friendships with so many other kids in the band family.”

When writing a children’s book based on one of his own childhood experiences, Grant Harrison (@fetchtheswell_autism) didn’t expect his work to have much of an impact on others. Yet in reality, his 2022 book,
Will You Be My Friend? Based On A True Story Through The Eyes And Ears Of Autism, has been inspiring others and spreading hope to those facing similar challenges.
“It always makes me happy that my story can connect with people,” Grant says.
Will You Be My Friend? is inspired by Grant’s experience navigating anxiety and Asperger’s Syndrome while in elementary school. The narrative follows a protagonist based on Grant himself as he participates in a talent show, with supporting characters based on his mother, fourth-grade teacher, and best friend.
“Doing that talent show was one of the biggest things that helped me break out of that social anxiety shell,” Grant says. “The best part about it, not only being able to be myself on stage, was the fact that it led to a lot more things in my life. It’s the catalyst that helped me become who I am today.”
Grant says he is proud of the impact his book has had in his community. He shares, “A lot of people have been very happy with the book, have been very inspired by it. And I’m very happy that something that I like doing is able to inspire people to do great things.”
He hopes that his book continues to spread awareness about autism and show people that it’s possible to achieve great things with autism.
“The other impact I think it has on the world is helping families with autism realize that there is hope. If they get the right support, if they get the right people helping, then people with autism can still easily thrive and succeed.”
